APCC Proposal

Asia Pacific Cultural Center (APCC)

Background

On October 11, 2011 HDC received a PowerPoint Presentation (click on the link to download a PDF version) outlining the idea for an Asia Pacific Cultural Center located on the six acre property in the center of our district.

HDC Position

HDC's initial response was in the form of an email (click to download) sent to the City Council and staff on October 27, 2011.

Updates

October 25, 2011: Meeting with Councilmember Jake Fey who is supporting this project. Mr. Fey admitted that he should have arranged for thThe e APCC group to meet with HDC prior to that time.

October 30, 2011: Received an email from Councilmember Boe regarding our 10/27 message stating "Good point".

October 31, 2011: Meeting with Councilmember Lauren Walker who expressed concern regarding this project.

The Interim City Manager sent the APCC a letter on November 28, 2011 specifying the steps necessary to keep the potential acquisition of the property on track. The milestone events are:

• Audit of APCC by December 31, 2011
• Revised development concept that shows greater density by March 31, 2012
• Third-party market feasibility study for the proposed project by June 30, 2012
• Capital and operating pro formas for the proposed project (including assumptions) by June 30, 2012

January 12, 2012: APCC Audit submitted by staff to the City Council
